The First Day of Summer: Embracing a New Season

Happy First Day of Summer!

Are you looking forward to the months ahead?

When I enter into a new season, sometimes I feel a combination of joy and hesitation. Summer is often uncomfortably hot. It’s relieving to be done with the cold, exciting to have more outdoor activities to look forward to, but also frustrating to deal with the intense heat.

Sometimes, in order to appreciate a new season, I have to dive into it, regardless of the temperature. Because no matter how I feel about a new phase of life, it almost always helps me to grow, to embrace a new dimension of living.

I recently began a new season of life. I’m enjoying being the mother of a new baby girl. Her smiles and snuggles melt my heart every day. But I’m also adjusting to the fast pace of being a working mom with two small children. It’s been a beautiful, joyful, all-consuming juggling act.

What do you think of this quote?

“Without darkness, nothing comes to birth, As without light, nothing flowers.”
― May Sarton

Each new season is a gift. Summer often brings sunshine and fresh air, the opportunity to bask in natural light. This can stimulate creativity. A stream of new ideas. A fresh vision for the future. I hope that you have a wonderful, meaningful new season ahead!

I think the quote means that we should take advantage of every moment that comes our way, because there is nothing like “when the situation gets better”.
Though some situations are unavoidable, we just need to adjust our schedules, expectations and dedicate our energies towards them because just like seasons, they come and go.
    What is your view?”

That’s a great perspective on this quote–and on life! Thanks so much for your insight, Maurice!
