Dreams for the New Year

In your ideal future, what are you doing? Is anyone else there?

I like to dream about a better year ahead, so the word that I’ve chosen for 2023 is simply “Dreams.” Not only do I want to see lifelong dreams unfold, but I literally want to get more sleep. More dreams.

Over the past 3 years, it felt like blogging was a dream of the past. There were clients to counsel through the pandemic, I had a dissertation to finish, and my 2 little girls wanted me to spend more time with them than I actually had to give. Maybe the fact that I’m blogging today is a step in the direction of dreaming again.

Instead of resolutions, I like to choose a word for each new year. Since I haven’t blogged in almost 3 years, here’s a quick recap of the last couple of years. In 2021, my word was “Completion.” I wanted to complete some difficult goals, such as my dissertation. I didn’t actually do that in 2021. But my word for 2022 was “Time,” and I made use of that. My intention was to value the time that I had, by enjoying the fun moments and by directing my time into completing goals. I did actually manage to do that, and that’s probably why I need to catch up on sleep this year.

By visualizing the direction of where you want to go, you can align your heart, your head, and your steps. Do you have a word for 2023? If you could have a dream come true this year, what would it be?

My word is presence. My dream for the year is to see my boys grow more into a friendship.

I love the word “presence.” Hopefully, this will be the year that your boys grow in friendship!
