Last week, I wrote a blog post about how we commemorated Jerrie Mock’s remarkable life.

In 1964, Jerrie became the first woman to successfully pilot an aircraft around the world. She passed away last September, after living to see the 50th anniversary of her flight. Last week, some of her family members gathered for a memorial service on the coast as three planes flew in her honor. Jerrie’s final wish was for her ashes to be dispersed by a plane over the Gulf of Mexico.
