Happy New Year!
I like to choose a significant word as I enter each new year. In 2015, my word was “fruitful,” and my year was very fruitful. In 2016, my word was “nurture,” and I focused on nurturing and appreciating what I had. Last year, my word was “perseverance,” and as it turned out, I had to persevere harder than I expected to.
This year, my word is “simplify.” I’m expecting another daughter in April, so I know that life is about to get more complicated. To balance that out, I want to simplify other areas of my life.
Is there anything you’re hoping for in the year ahead? May 2018 truly exceed your expectations! Here are some quotes to carry with you as you enter this new year.
“Hope
Smiles from the threshold of the year to come,
Whispering ‘it will be happier’…”
― Alfred Tennyson
“For last year’s words belong to last year’s language
And next year’s words await another voice.”
― T.S. Eliot, Four Quartets
“Let us embrace the coming year with a living hope for everyday life.”
― Lailah Gifty Akita, Pearls of Wisdom: Great mind
“The object of a New Year is not that we should have a new year. It is that we should have a new soul and a new nose; new feet, a new backbone, new ears, and new eyes.”
― G.K. Chesterton, A Chesterton calendar
